Meet the people behind Holistically Human™

Holistically Human™ has been created by a team of practitioners, educators, and clinicians who share a deep commitment to whole-human care. We come from diverse professional backgrounds, but we are united by a belief that meaningful change happens when mind, body, nervous system, and relationships are all held with care.

Our team

Catherine Wignall

Founder

Catherine is the founder of Holistically Human™ and an integrative psychotherapist with a deep commitment to whole-human care. Her work brings together mind, body and lived experience to support meaningful, lasting change — both for individuals and for the professionals who support them.

“When we give every part of ourselves permission to be seen and understood, real change becomes possible. "

Catherine’s path into therapeutic work was shaped by her own personal experiences of loss, trauma and life transition. After experiencing the transformative impact of therapy first-hand, she retrained as a counsellor and established a private practice supporting clients through a wide range of life challenges. This personal and professional journey continues to inform her belief that healing and growth happen when every part of a person — their history, relationships, body and nervous system — is held with care.

She is a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist, supervisor, registered member of the BACP and a CPCAB tutor, training the next generation of counsellors. Alongside her clinical work, Catherine has more than 20 years’ experience in the corporate world leading organisational change and transformation. This dual perspective enables her to understand the complex ways work, identity and life transitions shape our sense of self and wellbeing.

Catherine specialises in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, loss and life change, offering a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can bring their full selves. Her integrative approach draws on a range of therapeutic models and techniques, tailored to each individual, with the aim of helping people better understand themselves, build resilience and move towards more authentic and fulfilling lives.

Through Holistically Human™, Catherine’s vision is to make integrated, whole-human therapy more accessible and to support both clients and practitioners in recognising the powerful connection between mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

“This work is about being human together — making space for the hard stuff and finding a way forward that feels real and manageable. "

Grace

Head of Agency Operations

As a qualified person-centred counsellor and trainer, Grace has worked with young people and adults in a range of settings, including schools, crisis centres and charities. Here at Holistically Human™ she’s the person you speak to when you initially make contact to seek counselling. Grace listens, identifies the core issues affecting you and uses her extensive experience to hand-pick the best counsellors for you to choose from – taking the guesswork out of the process for you.

Grace also has an in-depth understanding and real-world experience of implementing policies and procedures to ensure positive outcomes for clients, having worked within the charity sector and co-ordinated data collection within the NHS frameworks. So, with her other hat on, she helps us to create processes and procedures that ensure that our service is professional, safe, ethical and effective.

As well as loving weight-lifting and nurturing her extensive houseplant collection, Grace is also passionate about making counselling accessible.

“I’m excited that we’re able to create a space where clients feel valued, heard and supported and that we’ve built a team that reflects the values we hold to support clients.”

Julia

Clinical Lead

Julia is an integrative counsellor, which means she brings a range of approaches to the counselling space, including modalities such as psychodynamic and CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy), but adapting sessions to each client’s needs.

“I believe Holistically Human™ is providing something that’s currently lacking for people who are looking for therapy”

“There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ model to being a human, so counselling should be approached holistically – looking at both mind and body in an approach that is tailored to the individual. Here at Holistically Human™ we see each person as the unique and incredible individual that they are, and that sits well with my personal and professional ethos.”

Julia’s specialism is working with trauma, but her broad experience means she also works successfully with anxiety, stress, depression and suicide ideation, neurodiversity and with people living with a diagnosed personality disorder. She trained as a supervisor in 2020, and now enjoys working with other counsellors, overseeing their processes and practice to ensure they are working safely, effectively and ethically. We’re delighted that she does that for us here at Holistically Human™.

A fan of travel and dog walking, Julia describes herself as ‘extremely community minded’ and is proud to work with an organisation that ‘gives back’ with the aim of making therapy accessible to all.

Kate

Digital Manager

Kate brings together experience in UX design, digital communications and strategy to help organisations connect with the people they support.

She’s committed to challenging stigma, with a background in period poverty, drug policy, and now mental health. Across her work, she uses digital tools to open up conversations and build compassion between people.

Kate also works in communications for a national mental health charity, where she helps shape trauma-informed messaging and encourages more open conversations about mental health.

At Holistically Human™, Kate manages the digital side of things: overseeing the website, designing user journeys, and making sure the information people need is easy to find. Her aim is to create a welcoming online experience that answers your questions before you even have to think of them.

Outside of work, Kate is a big believer in everyday self-care, whether that’s getting outside for a walk or watching a comfort TV show.

"As humans our mind and body are so interconnected, so the way we approach our mental health should reflect that too."

Whole-human practice. Shared values. Safer care

Each member of our team brings both professional expertise and lived experience into their work. We understand the responsibility that comes with supporting others, and we value ethical practice, reflective learning, and embodied awareness. This shapes not only how we teach and train, but how we relate — to our students, our community, and one another.

Our approach is integrative and trauma-aware, grounded in person-centred and psychodynamic thinking while informed by polyvagal and somatic perspectives. We believe learning should feel safe, supportive, and spacious enough for curiosity, growth, and honest reflection.

Above all, we are humans first. We know that becoming a practitioner is not just about gaining knowledge, but about developing presence, integrity, and compassion. As a team, we are here to support that journey — walking alongside you as you deepen your understanding of yourself and the people you work with
