Meet our Holistic Humans
Movement: Body and Breathwork
Our partners in body and breathwork with us by combining their core skills in yoga, pilates and physical therapy with our Polyvegal and trauma-informed training to become accredited in Whole-Human Therapy™.
Together as a network of Holistic Humans™ we provide a service to you that is unique to your needs as a whole-human to help you reconnect mind and body.
Classes are designed and crafted to target the areas of the body that work with our system to manage differing mental health challenges. Individual classes are tailored to your specific needs.
Our bodies are always speaking, even when our minds are busy.
Movement and breath offer a way to listen—to tune in, to release tension, and to reconnect with ourselves. In an integrated mind-body approach to mental health, these tools are more than exercises; they are invitations to explore presence, awareness, and inner balance.
Yoga and mindful movement provide a space to cultivate this connection. Through gentle flows, intentional postures, and the rhythm of your breath, you can begin to notice how emotions and physical sensations are intertwined. Breath becomes a guide, calming the nervous system and grounding the mind. Movement becomes a conversation, helping the body release what no longer serves it and opening space for clarity and calm.
In this practice, mental health is approached holistically—through the body, the breath, and the mind together. Each inhale and movement is an opportunity to reconnect, regulate, and nurture your well-being. Here, wellness is not something you chase; it is something you inhabit, moment by moment, from the inside out.
“Agency starts with what scientists call interoception, our awareness of our subtle sensory, body-based feelings: the greater that awareness, the greater our potential to control our lives.” - Dr Bessel Van Der Kulk, The Body Keeps The Score
The benefits of developing introception
- Somatic practices acknowledge our physicality
- Integral role in self-regulation, emotional experience and decision-making
- Sense one’s boundaries, learn when is enough
- Through ‘somatic markers’ (Damasio), can understand how physiological signs are impacting our decisions – dissolve stuckness & having tools
- Movement as a safe structure to explore nervous system & retrain neural pathways
Not sure Yoga is for you?
Movement beyond yoga can be just as powerful for mental health, especially when paired with breath awareness and a mind-body approach.
Our bodies are always communicating, even when our minds feel scattered. Movement and breath offer a direct way to listen, release tension, and reconnect with ourselves. In an integrated mind-body approach to mental health, these tools are not just exercises—they are invitations to explore presence, awareness, and inner balance.
While yoga is one powerful avenue, movement extends far beyond the mat. Walking, dancing, tai chi, qi gong, or mindful stretching all provide opportunities to tune into the body, synchronize with the breath, and cultivate emotional regulation. Breath becomes a guide, grounding the mind and calming the nervous system. Movement becomes a form of expression, helping the body release stored tension, foster creativity, and open space for clarity and calm.
In this approach, mental health is approached holistically—through the body, the breath, and the mind together. Each step, sway, or stretch is an opportunity to reconnect, regulate, and nurture well-being. Here, wellness is not something to chase; it is something we embody, moment by moment, through intentional movement and mindful breath.
What to expect
All Holistically Human practitioners are trained in trauma-informed care, ensuring they know how to create a safe, supportive, and respectful space for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Our practitioners engage in ongoing professional development, receive regular supervision, and work in line with the latest research and best practice throughout their time within the Holistically Human community.
Your privacy is always respected. No confidential information is shared without your explicit consent. Many clients choose to offer a brief outline of their needs directly to their practitioner, which is often more than enough to guide the work — without needing to disclose anything that feels overwhelming or deeply personal.
If a particular therapy or specialist support is likely to be especially beneficial, your practitioner may recommend connecting with our assessment team or exploring another service within Holistically Human. You will be guided toward a selection of appropriately trained and qualified practitioners or group classes, allowing you to choose and book a session at a time that suits you. If you already have a clear sense of what you’re looking for, you’re also welcome to browse our directory and select a practitioner or class that feels like the right fit for you.
